The earliest railroad plows were likely derived from agricultural plows, and were the first instance of a plow being pushed from behind rather than pulled by horses or oxen. In 1840, little more than a decade after the first steam engine plied American rails, Charles Lowbaert was granted a patent for a wedge, or “bucker,” railroad plow. Like our model, that pioneering snowplow featured an inclined plane to bring the snow up off the rails and a pointed, triangular wedge to throw it to both sides of the track. Over time, railroad plows evolved into an arsenal of equipment ranging from engine-mounted blades to the ultimate snowfighting weapon, the rotary snow plow.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Atlas Model Railroad Company","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":42183257555190,"sku":"AO-3009973","price":83.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1011\/0560\/products\/image_c900b0bd-b159-4a10-b1f0-ff0b2eba1366.jpg?v=1673901986"}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1011\/0560\/collections\/3009970-1.jpg?v=1638332449","url":"https:\/\/mrmuffinstrains.com\/collections\/atlas-o-premier-snow-plow\/premier.oembed","provider":"MrMuffin'sTrains","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
