The road was instrumental in the Advisory Mechanical Committee designs and their first order of Berkshires in 1934 really set the pattern for most of those that followed. Ultimately the Nickel Plate ordered 80 similar Berkshires from Alco and Lima for fast freight service. Twenty were equipped for passenger service during the war as well. Like their sisters on the C&O and other roads, dieselization cut their careers short despite their successful design. All 39 Berks found plenty of work hustling fast freights across Michigan in the busy 1940s. Ultimately, all of the locomotives would become part of the C&O roster before retirement. Because of trust agreements, only the initial order of locomotives were relettered and numberd into the C&O roster. Nos. 1216-1239 continued on in Pere Maquette paint until retirement. Named Kanawhas on the Chessie, the K-4 class saw service system-wide on freight trains of all types from 1943 until 1957. Their service lives were shortened by the coming of diesels, not by any fault of their own. Indeed, the C&O returned to Alco and Lima for five orders of their own and pulled additional models from the Pere Marquette. Thankfully, the C&O donated a dozen to cities upon retirement. C&O 2716, 2727, 2732 and 2736 all represent the first batch of Kanawhas delivered from Alco in 1943. In recognition of her past, and with great anticipation to her return, we're offering #2716 spruced up with polished rods, gloss paint and a modern Pyle headlight. Her sisters will wear a more standard matte finish with darkened rods appropriate for their appearance in the 1940s. C&O 2699 represents a former Pere Marquette locomotive, complete with proper PM details and a short-lived "C&O for Progress" tender. We're also offering a unique "fantasy" paint scheme based on the C&O's streamlined locomotives. Numbers 757, 763 and 765 were all part of the S2 class of Berkshires delivered in 1944 and 1945. All of these models will include working Mars lights on the smokebox front, common to all locomotives in this class in the 1950s. We're also offering 759 in her blue dress for the 1969 Golden Spike Limited which took the locomotive on a cross-country trip all the way to Utah.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1011/0560/files/2562070_NPR_HO_Berkshire_777_5ff2da4a-2f13-4e4b-bff0-952c378e9a63.jpg?v=1777729555
lho-2572080
Lionel HO 2572080 - Berkshire Steam Locomotive "Pere Marquette" #1225

Rail Line: Pere Marquette

Road Number: 1225

Gauge: HO Gauge

Power: Electric

Engine Type: Steam

Dimensions: Length: 14"

Most Recent Catalog: January 2025 HO Berk

Product Line: Lionel

System: DCC Sound Equipped

Min Curve: 20"

Features:

All Berkshires feature:

All new tooling from prototype drawings

Detailed Die-cast metal boiler and frames

Powerful, maintenance-free motor

Fan-driven smoke

Separately applied and road-number specific detailing

Detailed cab interior with crew figures

All-wheel pick up

Metal operating knuckle couplers

20" Minimum curve radius

Tethered connection to tender

ESU LokSound Locomotives also feature:

Fan-driven stack smoke

ESU LokSound 5 decoder with PowerPack.

Operates in both DCC and DC

Engine, whistle and bell sounds in DC operation

Full DCC functions in DCC operation

Overview:

The Pere Marquette knew a good thing when they found it and went to Lima five times for Berkshires between 1937 and 1944. Numbers 757, 763 and 765 were all part of the S2 class of Berkshires delivered in 1944 and 1945. All of these models will include working Mars lights on the smokebox front, common to all locomotives in this class in the 1950s. Having spent more years hauling excursions than freight by far, we're presenting 765 with polished rods, a Pyle headlight and gloss finish for your fan trips. Paying tribute to their limited time in passenger service, we've taken some liberties with the 777 in a "what if" special paint scheme. We're also offering 759 in her blue dress for the 1969 Golden Spike Limited which took the locomotive on a cross-country trip all the way to Utah.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1011/0560/files/2572100_American_RR_HO_Berk_5ace89fc-05a2-4459-b35d-90eb032ac1dd.jpg?v=1772393354
lho-2672010
Lionel HO 2672010 - 250th Anniversary Berkshire Steam Locomotive “U.S.A” w/ Patriotic Sounds

Rail Line: USA

Road Number: 250

Gauge: HO Gauge

Power: Electric

Engine Type: Steam

Dimensions: Length: 20"

Most Recent Catalog: 2026 Spring HO

Product Line: Lionel

System: DCC Sound Equipped

Min Curve: 20"

Features:

All new tooling from prototype drawings

Die-cast boiler and frame

Powerful, maintenace-free motor

Fan-driven smoke

Separately applied and road-number specific detailing

Detailed cab interior with crew figures

All-wheel pick up

Metal operating knuckle couplers

20" Minimum curve radius

Tethered connection to tender

ESU LOKSOUND LOCOMOTIVES ALSO FEATURE:

Fan-driven stack smoke

ESU LokSound 5 decoder with PowerPack.
