Although many railroads moved away from this design for safety and efficiency as locomotives grew larger, some camelbacks stayed in service right up to the last days of steam. Lionel's LEGACY Camelback offers a unique locomotive loaded with LEGACY features in a size and price that will fit smaller layouts. The car was originally named Pocatello, after Shoshone tribal Chief Pocatello, and retained that name until 2001.\n\nThat year, it underwent a major interior overhaul, receiving brand-new wood furnishings. Following the refurbishment, it was renamed Lone Star in recognition of Union Pacific’s operations in Texas, the Lone Star State.\n\nIn 2020, the car underwent another interior transformation, receiving a refreshed design and a new name—Lincoln—to honor President Abraham Lincoln, who signed the Pacific Railway Act, leading to the creation of Union Pacific.\n\nToday, Lincoln is a signature car in Union Pacific’s excursion fleet, often found at the rear—or sometimes in the middle—of special trains.
