Overview:

Steel is the lifeblood of the Union Railroad. While raw materials and finished goods make up the vast majority of the loads handled by this small but bustling Pittsburgh short line, there are also frequent "in process" moves from one mill or part of mill to another. Hot metal moves are a challenge on any railroad. The special cars must be handled with care but also without haste. Gondolas are used as idler cars for extra breaking power and in case of bridge weight restrictions. Cabooses aren't common - but they still are on all Union trains! Whether modeling in-plant moves or an over-the-road jaunt, this set gives you what you need to keep the mills running. This special train includes a Union NW2, two die-cast hot metal cars with glowing metal loads, 3 gondolas for spacers and a Union caboose to protect the shoves. Run as a dedicated train or split things up and use the mill gons to run some finished slabs or coils... there is always action to be found around this busy industrial road.
