Overview:

The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway offers amazing views of some of eastern Pennsylvania's finest scenery. Departing from the historic CNJ station in Jim Thorpe, the excursion travels the banks of the Lehigh River below towering cliffs, abundant wildlife and especially in the fall, a brilliant tapestry of color. Operated by the Reading and Northern Railroad, the trains consist of former Reading and Central of New Jersey passenger equipment, some more than a century old. SD50-2 #426 wears a special paint scheme to match the passenger train, but other R&N diesel and steam power shows up as well. Fall colors bring the largest crowds and longest trains with additional coaches and first-class cars often joining the consist. Bring the scenic operations home to your layout with this new Lionel set! LEGACY SD50 #426, three former Reading coaches and caboose make a good starting consist. Two additional coaches are available for special trips and of course you can also add in some of our previously released Reading and Northern passenger cars and steam or diesel power for special excursions!
