Overview:

Although not the largest road in the west, the Western Pacific was certainly one of the most colorful! This set pays tribute to some of the Feather River Route's most memorable, including two of the "Fab 4" F7s which survived into the 1980s in regular service. There were probably at least a dozen paint schemes applied to their boxcars, but this 1952 experiment by Pullman Standard may have been one of the best. The WP often used its beautiful Feather River Canyon line as inspiration for its slogans and car art. A group of converted covered gondolas made good use of the "big feather" to help highlight the smoother ride for high-value steel goods. Like most railroads, the WP got on board the bicentennial craze and decorated a locomotive, rolling stock and a fleet of highway trailers for the event. Bringing up the markers, bay window caboose 444 in a bold lettering style! This set is sure to be a feather in the cap of any Western Pacific fan. Catch one before they blow away!
