Overview:
2023 marks 175 years since President James Polk confirmed to Congress in December of 1848 that gold had been found in the mines of California. After many false starts, the Gold Rush had officially begun. This discovery led to a boom in California's economy and helped double its population, eventually sparking the need for passenger and freight services in the last 1860s. This set pays homage to an era of prosperity and opportunity sparked by the Gold Rush.
