Overview:

The 53’ Double Plug Door Box Car was manufactured in the late 1960s  and early 1970s by the Evans Company and was used primarily to haul a selection of dry goods such as produce, wood and paper products, as well as canned goods. Our model is of the insulated RBL variant featuring a 16 foot opening and double plug doors. This particular car is leased by and decorated for Tropicana and is used for the transportation of orange juice without the use of refrigeration - instead, the interior is insulated to keep the goods inside the box at a stable temperature. Whether it’s hot or cold on your layout, you can depend on this car to get the job done.
