Overview:
Perhaps no group of steam locomotives has done more to cement the legacy of Lima and their Super Power design than the "common design" Berkshires of the 1940s. Rostered by multiple railroads under the VanSweringen brothers' control and copied by even more, these modern 2-8-4s combined power, speed and efficiency with a well-balanced style. More than a dozen examples of the design survive today, with Nickel Plate 765 and Pere Marquette 1225 both now inspiring fans for more years than they hauled freight. We've even showcased one of 765's alter-egos as she masqueraded as C&O 2765 in 1993. These Berks move as quickly as the real thing every time we release them. Don't let yours pass you by!
