US Army - Same Paint Scheme as our Triplex and S2 - General Georg C. Marshall
Formerly 26314USA
was an American army officer and statesman who served as Chief of Staff of the United States Army during World War II, Secretary of State, and Secretary of Defense. He played a pivotal role in organizing Allied victory in World War II and later championed the European Recovery Program—known as the Marshall Plan—which helped rebuild postwar Europe. In recognition of his efforts, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953, becoming the first professional military officer to receive the honor. (wikipedia)
Officially listed as rebuilt 2-8-0s to satisfy wartime production restrictions, the Reading's T1 class 4-8-4s contained very little of their ancestral DNA. The class quickly became popular on the Reading hauling freight and of course, anthracite. Reading saved four of the T1s for their "Reading Rambles" excursions in the 1960s and all four survive today with one fully restored to operation and another not far behind. The T1's fame grew after the Reading itself faded with locomotives being used for the American Freedom Train in 1975-76 and numerous excursions in the decade that followed. Our latest release of these models includes No. 2102 as she looked on the Rambles, a 1977 excursion to Pittsburgh, redressed for the D&H's anniversary and her current appearance on the Reading and Northern. So, whether you're hauling black diamonds or happy railfans, we've got a T1 for you!
